Here’s how it works:
Your body speaks to you through your blood sugars and in this program, you get to listen and learn as your body reveals what it needs! We use the cutting-edge technology of a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) that sends your glucose data via bluetooth to the app you’ll have where you can see a graph of your blood sugars in real time to help you learn powerful insights to work with your body. You can choose to log what you eat and drink, track your weight, sleep, and activities to learn how big and small changes each day can help your glucose levels stabilize, and you’ll reap the benefits of more energy, improved mental clarity, better health, less risk of chronic diseases, and easier weight loss! Knowledge is power.
During our 3 months together, I’m going to guide you through gaining insights specific to your body based on realtime data, creating a plan that works with your body with simple shifts, while using my functional medicine practitioner approach addressing other necessary areas too, to speed up results (think: hormones, detox, thyroid, nutrients, etc.). What is a CGM?
A continuous glucose monitor (CGM) is a tiny wearable device that reads the glucose levels in your interstitial fluids continuously. It is attached to your body (usually the upper arm) and continually monitors glucose levels via a microfilament—not to worry, it’s not uncomfortable to put on and you barely notice it’s there once applied.
How will this help me push through a weight loss plateau?
Blood sugar knowledge is a key link for effective and sustainable weight loss. High blood sugar spikes can get converted into fat, and without stable blood sugar levels your fat burning hormone, glucagon, won’t be released, so you’ll be storing fat instead of burning it for energy.
If your blood sugars are too high, Insulin (your fat-storing hormone) surges! High insulin blocks stored fat from being broken down and used for energy.
If your blood sugars are too low, Glucagon (your fat-burning hormone) is unable to do its job.
Your appetite is affected by your blood sugar levels, too. The cells in your brain sense changes in your blood glucose and alter your appetite accordingly. Swings in your blood sugar can make you hungry and more likely to overeat. When your glucose stays stable, your brain sends satiety signals and reduces hunger levels and cravings. Bonus: stable glucose gives you consistent energy levels throughout the day!
